This site is for students, family members, mentors, and other supporters of the Confirmation program at Wakefield Evangelical Covenant Church. Our purpose is to keep all interested folks in the loop on what we're learning in class. We know that stuff sinks in a lot better when we can talk about it with other people. So take the time to talk with a Confirmation student about what they're learning in Confirmation - and maybe you will learn something new yourself!
Our Schedule:
The 2015-2016 schedule may be viewed online by clicking this link.
Our Purpose:
The purpose of Confirmation is to help middle-school students develop a firsthand faith in Jesus Christ through exploring the Bible, prayer, cultivating meaningful relationships with the pastor, friends, and members of the congregation, and having fun along the way. We’re trying to develop habits and retain insights that will help us become lifelong followers of Jesus.
Expectations:
As a Confirmation student, you are expected to do four things on a regular basis throughout the coming year:
READ, THINK, PRAY, REMEMBER. We will do this as individuals and as a group, so I expect you to be in class each week on time and to let me know if you won’t be able to come. Here’s what we’ll be doing to ‘confirm’ your faith as a follower of Jesus Christ (and why):

READ, THINK, PRAY, REMEMBER. We will do this as individuals and as a group, so I expect you to be in class each week on time and to let me know if you won’t be able to come. Here’s what we’ll be doing to ‘confirm’ your faith as a follower of Jesus Christ (and why):
READ
- Read before class. Use the schedule to keep up with the sessions from The Journey: The Old Testament.
- Read carefully and regularly. Every day (six days a week), slowly read the “Time with God” passage for that day.
THINK
- When you read, stop to think about it. Use the “Time with God” questions to help you. Then write your responses.
- Ask questions. If you think of questions at home, bring them to class. There are no dumb questions!
- Come to church and take sermon notes. If you are in town, you should be in church. Taking notes will help you think about what the preacher is trying to communicate about the Bible in church on Sundays (20 sermon notes total). This is a long-standing Confirmation tradition! :)
PRAY
- Pray before and after you read your Bible. Ask God to help you understand.
- Take turns praying in class. We’ll learn how to pray with each other and for each other.
REMEMBER
- Learn by heart at least five Building Blocks and five Bible verses. There are 10 total.
- We’ll have some class incentives for memorization. If everyone memorizes everything, we’ll take a trip to the water park in the summer.
