Uh oh! I've already got behind on my weekly posts about what's going on in our class. Please forgive me! Last Wednesday (9/24), we focused on the story in Luke 2 about Jesus as a 12-year-old boy. One thing we like to do a lot in Confirmation class is act out stories.
For this lesson, our students made their acting debut, and I have to say, I was impressed. I think we have a lot of good drama ahead of us! NOTE: My apologies for not catching the first group's performance on video - I didn't realize I was short on storage space on the device I was using! The second group's performance can be viewed here!

It's interesting to think about Jesus being the same age or very close in age to our Confirmation students. We went and looked at all the old Confirmation photos on display in the church fellowship hall and thought about what we might have in common with 12-year-old Jesus (for example, he spent a lot of time studying the Bible too!) and how his parents might have had some similarities to ours (and whether we are as obedient to them as Jesus was to his). When you read the story for yourself, what similarities and differences do you see?

WHO IS JESUS CHRIST?
Jesus Christ is the Son of God, fully human and fully divine, the promised Messiah who came into the world to redeem people from sin and establish his kingdom on earth.
"'Who do you say that I am?' Simon Peter answered, 'You are the Messiah, the Son of the Living God.'" Matthew 16:15-16

We'll be working on session 5, "Jesus' Baptism and Temptation".
