Easter. Resurrection Sunday. Pasch. Whatever you call it, the stuff that happened three days after Jesus was crucified has changed our world forever. Each Gospel tells the story a little differently. Our Confirmation class took a closer look at the various people who witnessed Jesus' resurrection, and we've turned those stories into a newscast that we now proudly share with you:
For Jesus' friends who were lost without him, the reality of Easter made a huge difference. Even they couldn't fully understand (can anyone?) the world of a difference that Jesus' resurrection makes for all of us. Our Building Block offers one explanation.
WHAT WAS ACCOMPLISHED BY THE DEATH AND RESURRECTION OF JESUS CHRIST?
By the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ, God conquered sin, death, and the devil, offering forgiveness for sin and assuring eternal life for those who follow Christ.
"For God so loved the world that he gave his only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life." (John 3:16, NLT)
I'm always encouraging our students to think about what these Bible stories mean for their real life. The story of Jesus' resurrection is one that requires a response from each of us. What about you? Do you believe it's true? Even if it doesn't make 100% sense to you, do you trust that God sent his Son Jesus to live and die and rise again - for us? Answering yes to that question opens the door to a journey of faith with the risen Lord. Answering yes to that question opens the door to eternity in heaven with him. I pray that each one of us - students, parents, mentors, leaders, will have our lives changed by that simple "yes"!
